This Art and Design progression document sets out a clear and carefully sequenced journey for pupils from the Early Years through to the end of Year 6. Building on the creative foundations established in EYFS, children develop their skills, knowledge and understanding through a consistent artistic process of taking in ideas, testing out materials and techniques, and reflecting on their work. The curriculum places strong emphasis on creativity, individuality and the purposeful use of sketchbooks to explore ideas, practise skills and evaluate outcomes. By the time children leave Littlebourne, they will be confident, reflective and independent artists who can express their ideas creatively, talk knowledgeably about artists and techniques, and take pride in their own unique artistic voice.
